How to Create a Healthy Relationship with Food

table time Oct 14, 2020

Have you ever wished that you could throw your diet out the window, not gain weight and just be nice to yourself, once and for all. Well you don’t want to miss today’s episode.

Our guest today is Christa Blanckenberg. She is a Registered Dietitian and Food Psychology Coach on a mission to help women all over the world transform their relationships with food and overcome overeating in a gentle, no-diet, zero-willpower kinda way.

After a lifetime of personal overeating struggles and a decade in the diet industry, Christa believes that food psychology and a more gentle approach to nutrition is the missing piece of the puzzle for women’s food struggles.

Her previous experiences include lecturing at three of London’s top Universities on health behaviour change and working at a private practice in London’s esteemed Harley Street.

She now raises her two young daughters while coaching women from all over the world to food freedom!

’m soooo over the moon excited to have her on the show today! In case you're wondering what we chatted about, here are some of the questions I asked to pick her brain.

  1. Tell us a little about who Christa is and what led you to becoming a dietitian and food psych coach.
  2. How has diet culture played a role in you pursuing this path?
  3. I know you are a proponent of Food Freedom which gives people the permission to eat what they want, no food is good or bad, etc but how do you help someone learn to be healthy and establish boundaries?
  4. What is the alternative to dieting if you're looking to lose weight or feel like you have no control around food?
  5. Can you speak more on your views when it comes to dieting? Like what you think about Keto, Weight Watchers, Intermittent Fasting, etc.
  6. I know a lot of people talk about emotional eating? Do you believe this is a thing and how can someone manage it in a non-diet, gentle way?
  7. Being a mom of two young girls, how do I teach them to have a good relationship with food?
  8. What things do I avoid doing or saying as a mom of girls so I don’t pass my toxic dieting beliefs onto them?
  9. For the listener who is thinking "oh i could never do this", how could they explore and build a better belief that they too can do this?
  10. I love to give my listeners actionable steps that feel manageable. What is ONE thing someone listening can do TODAY that will help them feel better, healthier and happier with food freedom?
  11. How can people find you if they want more?

If you'd like to learn more from Christa, you can find her over on Instagram here or you can check out her simple 20 question quiz to determine what kind of overeater you are. It's very detailed and super helpful.
