Anxiety - We All Have It
ANXIETY - WE ALL HAVE IT
Today we are talking about something that impacts so many millions of people. It’s not often spoken about but when I polled my audience, many said they suffer from it in some sort of way. Today we are talking about ANXIETY with my guest, Tara Bixby.
Tara is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a huge mental health advocate. She has a masters in Clinical Counseling and a Bachelors in Psychology. From licensed cosmetologist to licensed professional counselor at a medium custody prison, Tara’s career path has one common factor: people. She loves helping people to break free from belief barriers that keep them stuck. She specializes in anxiety and I’m so excited that I got the chance to interview her.
Some interview questions I asked include:
-
Can you give us a little background on who you are and the path you’ve taken to get where you are now?
-
What is anxiety and how does someone know if they have it?
-
Anxiety seems to be very common yet often not spoken about. Why is that?
-
How do you help people cope with anxiety?
-
I asked in my Instagram stories if anyone had something they’d like me to ask you. So I have a couple questions from community. One was around PTSD, how does someone with PTSD cope with anxiety if they never had it previously?
-
For the person who is trying to help a loved one with anxiety, how do they stay patient while being supportive?
- I love to give my listeners actionable steps but not overwhelm them. What is ONE thing someone with anxiety can do to help themselves through it?
Tara is a genius at making anxiety seem normal and a concept that is truly simple to understand. She gave so many solid examples for us to understand how our brain works and why anxiety is happening.
You can find Tara on Instagram, Facebook or at her website. She also is the host of the Courageously U Podcast.
